The zone starts from Pingshan Road in the east, stretches to the Linhong Road in the west, between the 242 provincial highway in the north and the Yunyan River in the south, with a total area of 76 km. The existing land within the zone is mainly low-yielding salina that can be put into construction use directly. The zone plays a key role in the strategy of ¡°industry driving the port¡± of Lianyungang city, and is an important part of the city¡¯s ambitious goal of constructing international coastal city and modernized industrial port city.

The general conceptual plan, regulatory detailed planning and landscape design of the zone have completed, which was compiled by Shenzhen Urban Planning & Design Institute, a first-class planning institute nationally. The zone has also launched several special planning studies including ¡°Industrial Planning & Layout¡±. |
¡¾Infrastructure¡¿ |
The zone has constructed and formed a main road frame of ¡°2 horizontals and 7 verticals¡±, which includes Dongfang Avenue (east to west), No.2 Haibin Road and Xingang Road, etc. It has perfected water supply, rain and sewage disposal, electricity supply and other infrastructural facilities, with high greenery coverage rate and well-developed investment condition, about 50 km of its area has reached the conditions to accommodate projects. |

¡¾Projects within the Zone¡¿ |
The development of the Near-Port Industrial Zone has attracted more and more investors¡¯ attention at home and oversees. Roquette of France, Sasol Wax of theUnited States, Fengyi Group of Singapore and some other enterprises in the zone has added capital and expanded shares. In 2007, there were 72 projects settled in the zone, among them, 50 with an investment volume of above USD10 million, with an average investment scale of USD19,820,000 ; and there were 80 newly approved domestic-funded projects, 32 of them with an investment volume of above 100 million yuan, the average investment scale of domestic-funded projects reached 0.22 billlion yuan. Among the under-construction projects in the zone in the year of 2007, there were 23 with an investment of above 10 million US dollars or 100 million yuan, as well as 41 newly completed projects, including Sunshine Crystal Source and Wuzhou Special Vehicle, etc. |
