Lianyungang city has a nationally first-class thermal power plant with an installed power generation capacity of 1.15 million kilowatts. The under-construction Tianwan nuclear power station is the largest single generator in installed power generation capacity throughout the country, two generators of its first stage have started commercial operation with a newly added generation capacity of 2.12 million kilowatts, its total capacity will reach 10 million kilowatts which is close to the that of Three Gorges, once the construction of its all four stages have been completed. Wind and solar power projects is also under planning and construction. All these efforts make Lianyungang a major energy-producing base in east China and the whole country as well.
