| Sutong Bridge Opens to Traffic |
After 4-year construction and 5-year anticipation, Sutong (Suzhou to Nantong) Bridge, the world largest cable-stayed bridge formally opened to traffic on May 25. The opening of the bridge marks the real run-through of Jangsu section of the coastal expressway and shortens the distance between LYG and the Yangtze River Delta.
The bridge has made 4 world records, that is, it has longest span, deepest base, highest cable tower and longest cable. It is built in June, 2003 with a distance of 32.4 kilometers. it is the highest level of china¡¯s bridge building.
The bridge will have active impact on the coastal development and the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. it facilitates the circulation of¡¡production factors from the developed areas to developing ones. It also makes broad space for the industry transferring of Shanghai. 320-km-long expressway from LYG to Yancheng and Nantong shortens the time from LYG to Shanghai.
